I was walking in a field of near Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. The milkweed was all gray and dry, their pods open and empty. Except for one. A single seed clung to one of the pods, apprehensive, holding on to the past and home, afraid of that big, empty field that seemed to stretch on forever. Until a big gust of October wind made the decision for it.
