I was on the shores of Lake Superior, back from the water near the trees. The sun was obscured by a brilliant storm cloud and I watched the boats leaving from the harbor at Bayfield. The summer wind thrashed at the ferns and grasses growing in the sand, and I lay my head down and watched the sailboats ride on a green, stormy sea.
